    The Morocco currency is the Dirham (DH) or (MAD). The dirham is divide in centimos and there is notes of 10, 50,100 and 200 Dirhams and the coins are centimes 5,10,20 and 50 centimos.

    You can only buy the Dirham in Morocco and you can are not allowed to export it out of the country either. Moroccan money should be exchanged at official bureaux de change only which can be identified by a golden sign. There is no commission charge for exchanging money and you are issued with a receipt which you must keep to then exchange your Moroccan currency back into your original national currency upon departure. Changing money in the street is illegal and really is best avoided.

    Travellers Cheques

    To avoid additional exchange rate charges, travellers are advised to take traveller's cheques in Pounds Sterling or US Dollars.

    Banks and credit cards

    Money can be withdrawn in banks with a credit card and a cheque book in some larger towns. Credit/Debit cards are sometimes accepted and therea re some ATM machines in the larger cities especially. However, there is normally a high charge levied for withdrawing money.
